Who Am I ?
In addition to my responsibilities as a teacher, I also serve as the district 90 representative for the Illinois Education Association, region 29.  My responsibilities are to attend monthly region council meetings at the Lombard, Illinois office of I.E.A.,  listen to information and discuss issues which pertain to education on a state and national level, reporting back to my local when necessary.  In addition to serving as the region representative for my district, I also serve as the secretary for the region council meetings. Having been elected as the delegate to attend the I.E.A. Representative Assembly for many years, my interest  in state policies regarding education and the         rights of teachers in the public schools continues. One of the most exciting opportunities which I was a participant, was serving as part of the congressional race team, affording me and several colleagues  from the region council colleagues to meet with NEA  officers and members of Congress in Washington D.C.Who am I outside of my school day? I am a "Renaissance" person, enjoying the arts, music, cultural experiences. My interests may range from hiking along the coast to attending the opera. First and foremost, above all else, I am a committed and loving friend, wife, parent and grandparent.

Hi Ruth. It must be thrilling to be teaching in the same district that your daughters attended as children! Happy to hear about your connection with IEA- we need strong educators out there representing us and staying in the know. Thanks for the introduction to you.
ReplyDeleteLoved getting to hear about you, Ruth. In my former district I was very active in the IEA as well, though it mostly involved going to the national conference. There's something so amazing about being a representative for your colleagues, isn't there?
ReplyDeleteYour IEA representation requires much more time than my yearly one. Thank you for your hard work on our behalf.
